Wilbur “Bill” Preusse, 85, of Redwood Falls died Sunday, February 13, 2011 at Wood Dale Home. Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 17, 2011 from First Presbyterian Church in Redwood Falls with military honors to follow. Burial will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at the church for one hour before the service.

Wilbur Herbert Preusse, the son of Herbert and Amanda Preusse, was born September 29, 1925 in Falls City, Nebraska. He received his formal education in the Falls City area and at the University of Nebraska, graduating from there in 1946. Bill was inducted into the United States Army and served overseas, stationed in Korea and China.
Bill married Jane Scott in Lincoln, Nebraska. The couple soon relocated to Redwood Falls where Bill and his father-in-law opened the Scott-Preusse car dealership. Bill was a car dealer for 63 years. He semi-retired in 1992, and continued to work part-time at the dealership until 2004.
Following Jane’s death, Bill married Gardenia Swartz on December 30, 1990. The couple resided in Redwood Falls and wintered in Florida. Bill was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder. He had served as president of Redwood Industries and the Chamber of Commerce, and was also a member of the Rotary Club and the Masons. Bill was a private pilot. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, sailing, swimming, and snowmobiling.
Bill is survived by his wife Gardenia Preusse of Redwood Falls; his son Scott (Sherry) Preusse of Redwood Falls; his daughters Barb (Mike) Mahutga of Custer, South Dakota, and Beth (Rick) O’Neil of Morton; and his sister Marilyn (Joe) Schieffelin of Denver, Colorado. Also surviving are his grandchildren Jamie (Kylie) Preusse of Lakeville, Minnesota, Jessica (Steve) Heiden of Lakeville, Minnesota, Joshua (Stephanie) Preusse of Aurora, Colorado, Robin (Josh) Kloos of Toronto, South Dakota, and Addie O’Neil of Crookston, Minnesota. Also surviving are Gardenia’s children Scott (Monica) Swartz, Kimberly Durham, Kelly (Myron) Hoffman, and Todd (Kim) Swartz; her grandchildren Brandon (Jenny) Hoffman, Christopher Hoffman, Tina Hoffman, Tasha (Chris) Carlson, Brittany Swartz, Caleb Swartz, Shayla Swartz, Dane Swartz, Ross Swartz, Laura Swartz, Nick (Brittney) Durham, and Dustin Durham; and their seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jane.
