Born in Morgan, Minnesota on September 18, 1931, to Frank and Lillian (Picker) Whitcomb, the youngest of seven siblings, Virginia lived a life rooted in deep faith, family, friendship, and unconditional love. Virginia graduated from Morgan High School as Valedictorian in 1949. She married James Norman Kopischke, her high school sweetheart, on July 22, 1950, in the Parish House in Morgan. After spending their early years in Fairmont and Worthington, Minnesota, they eventually settled back in Morgan - the town that became their forever home and the place where they built a life and legacy together.

She was honored to be a stay home mom for many years, going back to school in 1975, as a para-professional in her kindergarten classroom, working for another 25 years. After her retirement, she enjoyed time at the lake cabin, coffee with the ladies and spending as much time as she could with her family.

Together, Virginia and Jim created something truly extraordinary. Their love grew into a family that became the center of Virginia's world: seven children, 24 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.

Virginia was a woman of deep Catholic faith and lifetime member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, serving as a Eucharistic minister and past president of CCW (Council of Catholic Women). She served her community as a Cub Scout Leader, Girl Scout Cookie Mom, Director of the Morgan Community Players, member and President of the Ladies Auxiliary, a volunteer for the America Red Cross blood drives, and made dozens of pillowcase dresses for Dresses for Africa.

Virginia is survived by her seven children, Kevin (Donna) of Alexandria, Kathy (Curt) of Redwood Falls, Ken (Carol) of Grand Rapids, Dan (Robyn) of Alexandria, Doug (Cindy) of Morgan, Dave (Lori) of Morgan and Keri (Mark) of Rochester; 24 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. She was proceeded in death by her parents, siblings, and her husband Jim.

While her family's hearts are saddened, they find peace imagining Virginia reunited in Heaven with Jim - and her finally meeting Jesus face to face.

May she rest in peace.
