Stanley Nelson

Stanley D. Nelson, age 83, of Cottage Grove, MN, passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at M Health Fairview in Woodbury, MN. Stan was laid to rest in Redwood Falls following a graveside service. A Celebration of Life is planned for later this spring.

Stan was born in Evanston, IL to Leslie and Ethel Nelson. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in Schenectady, N.Y and attended Bethel College. He retired from the USPS Northern Division after 46 years of employment.

Stan enjoyed following the Twins and Vikings. He also participated in several musical organizations singing and playing his baritone. Among them are, church choir, Woodbury Chorus and Orchestra, Community Band, Salvation Army Band and Brass Band.

His favorite sport was fishing at the cabin, in Canada or wherever he heard of a good lake to try. Stan was laid to rest in Redwood Falls following a graveside service. A Celebration of Life is planned for later this spring.

Stan is survived by his wife of 53 years Barbara and 2 daughters Marci and Megan (Arthur Moore), grandchildren, Arthur, Brittany, Patrick, Alex, and Sandra Moore, and siblings, Bruce (Jane)Nelson, Mark (Linda) Nelson, sister-in-law, Gini Nelson, several nieces and nephews and many cousins and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother Paul.
