Shirley June Potter was born June 1, 1928 in Dearborn, Michigan to Henry and Elsa Menk. She was raised on a farm north of Morgan, Minnesota, and died January 11, 2024 in Morgan. A celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2024 from 12 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Morgan Lions Community Building in Morgan, Minnesota.
She graduated from Morgan High School in 1946 and worked for United Airlines in southern California until her marriage to Richard Potter on Oct. 26, 1947.
Shirley was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan, loved playing golf and continued golfing until age 94. She especially liked going up to the lake with daughter, Susie, and family, her Chardonnay and Cheetos. She enjoyed playing bridge and whist with her friends in Morgan and taking long walks.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Richard A. Potter and her sisters, Evelyn Johansen and Phyllis Conway. She is survived by her children, Cindy Watty (Mike), Susie Mayerle (Tom), and Scott Potter (Kathy); grandchildren, Erin McGregor, Nicki Hendee, Jill Brown, Jennifer Mayerle, Sarah Ducloux-Potter, Scott Mayerle, Nick Potter, Lindsay Gustafson, Matthew Watty and Rob Mayerle as well as great-grandchildren Alex McIntire, Christopher, Annabelle, and Michael Gustafson, Kai, Christian, Ethan and Jackson Hendee, Mallorie McGregor-Kass, Mac and Emma McGregor, Colleen and Landon Watty, Oliver and Ethan Mayerle, Tianna DuCloux-Potter, Matthew Brown, Elliott, Isaac, Coraline, and Oliver Potter.
