Ruth Nemitz

March 10, 1929 — April 18, 2021

Ruth Nemitz, age 92 of Redwood Falls, passed away on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Carris Health-Redwood Hospital, Redwood Falls, MN surrounded by her family.
Ruth was born to Gottlob and Emilie Stoll in rural White Butte, SD, a small prairie town in northwest South Dakota, on March 10, 1929. She was baptized on April 28, 1929 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in White Butte. She attended country school, and in 1939 she moved with her family to Redwood Falls, MN where she continued to attend country school. She graduated from Redwood Falls High School in 1946. She worked at Abbott Hospital in Minneapolis as a nurse’s aide and later in the office at Sears. She married Daryl Nemitz on August 28, 1948 at St John Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls, MN. They worked in Minneapolis until the spring of 1949 when they moved to Vesta and started farming. In 1966 they moved to a farm south of Redwood Falls.
Ruth was a loving caregiver to many family members including her parents, son-in-law Jim during his lengthy illness and grandchildren. She was an amazing cook, accomplished seamstress, and a loving and caring mother and wife. She was strong in her faith which led her to teach Sunday School and release time at St John Lutheran Church for many years. She created many memorable lunches and meals for those working in the field, found joy in her daily chores, and was known to nurture sick animals back to health. She had a unique gift of writing beautiful letters that made the receiver feel like she was talking to them. She set a wonderful example of how to live a life with love and without judgement. Her gentle touch and compassionate heart had a positive effect on all those who crossed her path and because of this the world is a little sweeter.
She is survived by her loving husband of 72 years, Daryl Nemitz, and children Cheryl (Scott) Schrader of Mounds View, MN, Deanna Wanzek of Redwood Falls, MN, Cynthia (Stan) Swierenga of Redwood Falls, MN, Julie (Allen) Jackson of Phoenix, AZ, Kristi (John) Reardon of Bloomington, MN, Mark (fiancé’ Lisa) Nemitz of Redwood Falls, MN and Bruce (Lori) Nemitz of Clearwater, MN. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren (Todd and Shawn Raddatz, Nathan Wanzek, Elizabeth DesLauriers, Meghan Levine, Trevor Wittwer, Michelle Williams, Kylie and Brooke Reardon, and Alicia, Brielle, and Gunnar Nemitz), 10 great grandchildren (Andrew, Brian and Allison Raddatz, Baxter and Weston Wanzek, Cora and Frederique DesLauriers, Nora Levine, and Asher and Ezra Wittwer), and 2 great-great grandchildren (Henry and Roselyn Raddatz), her sister Mary Anne Neumann and sisters-in-laws (Mabel Stoll, Marge Stoll, and Sharon Stoll).
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Gottlob and Emilie Stoll, brothers Emil, Walter and Kurt Stoll, infant son, Gaylon Nemitz, sons-in-law James Wittwer and Fred Wanzek, and grandsons Chad Wanzek and Eric Raddatz.
