Rose Schablin, 83, of Redwood Falls died Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at Wood Dale Nursing Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 from St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Redwood Falls with Father Germain Rademacher officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, from 9:30 until 11 a.m., at the church.
Rose’s wishes were that contributions be made to Seasons hospice in Redwood Falls.

Rose Ann Schablin, the daughter of Carl and Catherine (Kuelbs) Klabunde, was born May 8, 1928 in Wabasso. She grew up in the Clements area. Following high school, Rose attended Mankato State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in education. She taught school in Mankato for 37 years, retiring in 1984.
On August 5, 1950, Rose married Donald Schmidt; he preceded her in death in March 1996. On September 19, 1997, Rose married Leland “Lee” Schablin in Redwood Falls; Lee preceded her in death on October 4, 2010.
Rose was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church where she taught religious education classes for eight years. She also served as a lector and a communion distributor both at church and at Wood Dale Nursing Home. Rose belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary and was a life member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, reading and listening to music.
Rose was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald Schmidt, and her second husband, Lee Schablin; and her sister “Ag” Hopfenspirger. She is survived by her niece Pat “Trish” Klaras; many other nieces and nephews; several brothers-in law and sisters-in-law; and a host of friends.
