Ronald “Ron” J. Wertish, age 75, of Redwood Falls, MN, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, surrounded by his family. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Redwood Falls, MN with burial to follow in St. Catherine’s Catholic Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4:30 - 7:00 PM on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at the church, with a Parish Prayer Service and Rosary will be held at 4:00 PM. Ronald "Ron" J. Wertish, a beloved entrepreneur and vibrant member of the Redwood Falls community, passed away at the age of 75. Born on January 8, 1950, in Redwood Falls, MN, Ron's life was characterized by his unwavering spirit and an entrepreneurial mindset that left a lasting impact on those around him.
A proud graduate of Danube High School in 1968, Ron took over the family business, Wertish Salvage, where he honed his skills and passion for entrepreneurship. His ventures extended far beyond, encompassing a wide array of businesses in Redwood Falls that brought joy and service to the community. Ron owned and operated the popular Redwood Roller Skating Rink, Recreation Center, Taco John's, and the Redwood Wash Board Laundromat and Buggy Bathe Car Wash. His entrepreneurial spirit also led him to expand into Mesa, Arizona, managing another car wash. He established two movie rental stores in his hometown, captivating many with the magic of film. Additionally, Ron owned and maintained rental homes for an impressive 50 years, exemplifying his commitment to community and service.
Ron was an avid classic car and toy collector. He enjoyed going to cars shows, swap meet, flea markets and antique stores to further grow his collection.
In July 1970, Ron married Debra Werner, and together they were blessed with two sons, Todd and Tim, who have carried forward his legacy.
In 1990, he was instrumental in helping his son, Tim start the Redwood Auto Sales business, showcasing his dedication to fostering growth and opportunity for helping others in the community. Through every enterprise, Ron's charisma and compassion shone brightly, making him a cherished figure among family, friends, and patrons alike.
Ron is survived by his loving sons, Todd Wertish and special friend (Holly) of Peoria, Arizona, and Tim (Sommer) Wertish of Redwood Falls, MN, along with his adored grandchildren, Camden and Tenley. He shared a deep bond with his life partner, Lisa Juenemann, and her children, Amanda (and her children, Taylynn and Presley) and Ashley (Alex) Frank, all of rural Wabasso. Ron's warmth and love extended to his cherished sisters, Arlene Ebner of Lakeville, MN, and Carol Watkins of Montgomery, Alabama. Debra Wertish of Redwood Falls, MN and many nephews and nieces. Throughout his life, Ron was surrounded by many friends and family whose lives he touched in meaningful ways.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Evelyn, and his brothers-in-law, Gene Ebner and John Watkins. The loss of Ron leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Ron deserves to be remembered not just for his entrepreneurial success but for his generous spirit, deep love for family, and the joy he brought to the lives he touched. He will be deeply missed, yet his legacy will continue to shine through the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.
