Roger E. Lee, age 86, of Franklin, MN, passed away on Friday, June 13, 2025, at CentreCare Hospital in Redwood Falls, MN. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Nelson-Hillestad Funeral Home in Redwood Falls, MN, with burial to follow at Fort Ridgely and Dale Cemetery in Camp Township Renville County near Fairfax, MN. Luncheon will follow the burial at Squirrels Bar & Grill in Fairfax, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 1:00 PM at Nelson-Hillestad Funeral Home.

Roger was born on April 11, 1939, in North Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he was raised. He attended North High School, in North Minneapolis where he was a member of the state champion marching band and marched in the Aquatennial parade. In 1955, the family moved to Franklin, MN. He attended Franklin High School and graduated in 1957. The following year, he wed his high school sweetheart, Mary Lou, who remained his steadfast partner throughout their life together. The love story they created was a testament to the enduring bonds of family and companionship.
Roger was devoted to his family and dairy farming, carving out a life rooted in hard work and commitment, setting an example for his children. He played the piano and saxophone, and as an original member of Roger Kodet and The Cards, he brought joy to those around him with his musical talents. He was a devoted member of the worship team at New Life Community church in Hector, MN, where he shared his love for music and his faith in Jesus. Roger also served the community, including a noteworthy role on the Franklin School Board.
Roger is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Lou, and their two daughters: Lola (Scott) Ryckman of Sun City West, AZ, Carmen (Dan) Norlien of Duluth, MN, and his sons: Collin (Melissa) Lee of Franklin, MN, Blaine (Kim) Lee of Bowling Green, KY, and Chad (Julie) Lee of Sioux Falls, SD. He is also survived by his brothers, Douglas Lee of Marshfield, WI, and Larry Lee of Spokane, WA. Roger was a proud grandfather of 16 grandchildren and had the joy of 9 great-grandchildren.
Roger is preceded in death by his beloved son, Troy, and his infant daughter, Cindy Lou and parents, Carl and Mildred (Rovainen) Lee.
As we remember Roger, a husband and father, we celebrate a life filled with kindness, love, devotion, and musical talent, leaving behind a legacy that will continue through his family and friends.
