Merlin J. Goudy, age 91, of Wabasso, MN, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at St. Cloud VA Medical Center in St. Cloud, MN. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 7, 2026, at First Presbyterian Church in Redwood Falls, MN, with burial to follow in the Redwood Falls Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m. at the church.

Merlin James Goudy, was born on September 1, 1934, to James and Nettie (Berg) Goudy in Vail Township, Redwood County, Minnesota.
A graduate of Wabasso High School in 1952, Merlin went on to serve his country as a member of the United States Air Force from 1958 to 1961. His sense of duty and commitment continued upon his return home, when he helped his father run the family farm and, in later years, took care of his parents, James and Nettie Goudy.
Merlin’s generosity of spirit and community involvement was well-known. For over 50 years, he was an active member of the Masonic fraternity, a testament to his steadfast values and commitment to service. His work with the Charolais cattle association and his role as State Secretary demonstrated both his expertise and passion for agriculture.
Faith was an important part of Merlin’s life. As a member of the Presbyterian church in Redwood Falls, he found a welcoming community and carried his beliefs with him in all that he did.
Merlin is survived by his devoted sisters, Patricia Keener of Watertown, SD, Phyllis Judson of Wabasso, MN and many nieces, nephews relatives. He is preceded in death by his father, James Goudy; his mother, Nettie Goudy; and his sister, Donna Newman; nephews, Randy Newman and Pembrook Williams II; brothers-in-law, Paul Newman, Philip Judson and Roger Keener.
Throughout his life, Merlin exemplified integrity, caring for those around him, building strong bonds with his family, and giving generously to his community. He will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved him, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, hard work, and unwavering dedication.
