Louis Raymond Forbrook

Louis Forbrook, age 88, of Morgan, MN, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at Gil-Mor Manor Nursing Home in Morgan, MN. A Celebration of Life with a reception will be held from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Fritz’s On Main in Morgan. A private family burial will be held in the Morgan City Cemetery at a later date.

Louis Raymond Forbrook was born on September 11, 1937, in Morgan, Minnesota, Louis was the cherished son of Louis Sr. and Ida (Beilke) Forbrook. He made Morgan area his lifelong home, committing himself fully to the people and traditions that shaped him into the man so many cherished.

Louis attended and graduated from Morgan High School in 1955. An accomplished athlete, he remained especially proud of his high school track record in the 400-meter (then 440m) race—a testament to his enduring determination and spirit. His achievement on the track was only one of the many ways he inspired those around him with his work ethic and dedication.

Louis dedicated his life to hard, honest work and the well-being of others. His hands bore the marks of his years as a farmer, milk hauler, mechanic, and school bus driver. Through every role, he cultivated not only the land and machines, but relationships and memories that would enrich the lives of his family and his wider community.

A man of many talents, Louis was renowned as a great cook and griller; his passion for preparing meals provided comfort and connection to those fortunate enough to share in his hospitality. The simple joys of fishing, hunting, and caring for his lawn brought him peace and fulfillment, while his laughter brightened many games of cards at the local pool hall. He cherished morning gatherings at Morgan Grain and Feed, where stories, laughter, and camaraderie flourished among friends. Louis found particular delight in playing Crazy 8’s with his dear friend June Streich at his home, and he looked forward to attending music concerts at Jackpot Junction.

Above all, Louis’s deepest joy resided in his family. His children and grandchildren were his greatest treasures. He led by example, his life a beacon of steadfast faith, kindness, and resilience. A true pillar of the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls, his unwavering belief in goodness guided both his words and his actions.

Louis’s journey through life was marked by profound love and partnership. He married Judith Fixsen in Morgan on June 14, 1958. Their enduring bond lasted until Judith’s passing in 1990. Subsequently, Louis found love and renewed joy with Brenda Joy Pagel, whom he married at Zion Lutheran Church in Morgan on August 14, 1996. Each chapter of love reflected the profound loyalty and warmth that defined him.

Louis is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Joy Forbrook of Sleepy Eye, MN; children, Dan (Teresa) Forbrook of Alexandria, MN, Michelle (Scott) Phillips of Morgan, MN, Amy (Mike) Heidemann of Morgan, MN, Christopher (Alisha) Ball of Dodge Center, MN, Michael (Laura) Ball of Morgan, MN, Matthew (Nikki) Ball of Redwood Falls, MN and Angela (Wayne) Mathiowetz of Morgan, MN; 19 grandchildren, Haley, Collin, Casey, Brianna, Kaleb, Aaron, Darris, Garret, Alexis, Brooklyn, Savanah, Payton, Paige, Aubrey, Madison, Owen, Kara, Jaylen, Georgia and Skylar; 4 great grandchildren, Elyse, Kingston, Natalynn, Tucker and sister-in-law, Darlene Forbrook and many nieces and nephews.

In the hereafter, Louis reunites with those who have gone before him: his parents, Louis Sr. and Ida; wife, Judith Forbrook; son, Mark; brothers William (Bill), Willmar (Fobs), Ellsworth (Charlie), Elmer, and Clinton; sister Hazel Bohn. Their memories remain a cherished part of his story, woven into the fabric of his life and those he touched.

Louis Raymond Forbrook’s faith, laughter, and gentle spirit will continue to live on in those who knew him best. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever honored.
