Lorraine M. Kerkhoff, age 104, of Morgan, MN, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2026, at Sleepy Eye Hospital in Sleepy Eye, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Morgan, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 – 11:00 AM prior to the Mass at the church.

Lorraine Matilda Kerkhoff, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Gewerth) Hoffmann, was born on May 24, 1921, in Sherman township, Redwood County. She received her formal education in rural schools in Sherman township and St Mary’s in Sleepy Eye, MN. Lorraine received First Communion in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, MN and was confirmed in St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Morgan MN where she remained a member.
On September 25, 1940, Lorraine married Raymond J Kerkhoff at St Michael’s; they made their home in the Morgan area, moving to their farm after WWll when Ray returned from the service, where they continued raising their family of seven children.
Lorraine enjoyed caring for and raising her family. Every summer she planted a large garden to feed the family, canning and freezing produce for the winter. She was an accomplished seamstress, making most of the clothing for her children. After most of the children had graduated, Lorraine began working at Gil Mor Manor in Morgan, MN as an Aide and a TMA for 18 years.
She was an active member at St Michael’s Church, leading rosary, counting money and in the CCW. Lorraine was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary, where she was treasurer for 9 years and the Gil Mor Auxiliary. She also assisted with Blood Mobile and Meals on Wheels.
Lorraine had many interests. She enjoyed the crafts of crocheting and knitting, reading and puzzles, getting together with friends in league bowling and card clubs, dancing with her husband and fishing with family and friends. She and her husband were avid travelers, camping and visiting family across the United States. Most importantly she loved spending time with her family. In her most recent years, she found a love for coloring.
In 1993, Lorraine and her husband sold the farm site and moved to Morgan. After 20 years, they moved to Gil Mor Haven.
She is survived; by children Steve (Judy) Kerkhoff of Green Valley, Arizona; Mavis Sonnier of Walnut Creek, California; Ken (Dee) Kerkhoff of Walnut Creek, California; Chuck (Carol) Kerkhoff of Lino Lakes, Minnesota and Mary Lee (Dennis) Dallman of Deerwood, Minnesota. Also surviving are her grandchildren Laurie (Mike) Ramseck, Peggy (Keith) Chapman, Jason (Dawn) Sonnier, Matthew Kerkhoff, Rachael Kerkhoff, Kelly (Jason) Detloff, Troy (Celeste) Wilson, Aaron (Irina) Kerkhoff, Robyn (Kevin) Chmiel, Nicole (Jeremy) Joy, Christopher (Samantha) Kerkhoff and Calvin Kerkhoff; and 21 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren.
Lorraine was preceded in death by husband Ray Kerkhoff, son Kevin Kerkhoff, daughter Kathy Wilson, sons-in-laws Aaron Sonnier and Patrick Wilson, daughter-in-law Patricia (Randy) Scott, grandson Jon Kerkhoff, brothers Arthur Hoffmann, Cletus Hoffmann, Leonard Hoffmann, Norbert Hoffmann and sister Bonnie Meillier.
