Linda Parish

June 20, 1950 — November 24, 2023

Linda S. Parish, age 73, of Seaforth, MN, passed away on Friday, November 24, 2023 at CentraCare Health - Redwood Hospital. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 8, 2023 from Nelson-Hillestad Funeral Home in Redwood Falls, MN, with burial at a later date. A visitation will be held on Friday, December 8, 2023, from 9 until 10 a.m. at Nelson-Hillestad Funeral Home.

Linda, the eldest of four daughters, was born on June 20th, 1950 to Clifford and Lucille Muenchow in Montevideo, MN. After graduating from Belview High School in 1968, she enlisted in the United States Navy where she was a Hospital Corpsman, and trained as a Physician's Assistant with a focus in Urology. She enjoyed sharing the colorful stories she collected during her time in the Navy. She was awarded a National Defense Service Medal, and was honorably discharged in 1971.

While stationed in Charleston, NC, Linda met and fell in love with fellow Navy Recruit, Dale Parish, and the two later wed in 1971. In August of 1974, they welcomed their only child, a daughter they named Janeille.

After an amicable divorce in 1976, Linda went to Granite Falls Technical Vocational School, and became certified in Clerical and Computer Data Entry training in 1977. This would help her expand her horizons as she made the decision to take her daughter on a year-long adventure to Florida, and later to a life in California.

Linda landed a job as the Department Head of Computer Data Processing at Lassen Community Hospital in Susanville, CA, where she and her daughter would live until Janeille's high school graduation in 1992.

That year, Linda moved back to Seaforth in part to be with her sister, Karen, who had a terminal illness. After Karen's passing, Linda stayed in Seaforth to help her parents as they navigated life while getting older. A loving caregiver her whole life, Linda was able to be with her parents up until they passed, which was immensely important to her.

Linda was fascinated by quilting, and loved to crochet afghans for her loved ones. If someone close to her was going through a rough time, she would often make them a quilted wall hanging, an afghan or even a hat with cat ears to let them know her thoughts were with them. She had a fondness for going to the races, music with a lot of bass, romance novels, and action movies. She had a wicked sense of humor, and modeled fierce feminism even when it was considered gauche. Sometimes stubborn, she often told it like it was as was evident in her final words to her daughter, "I love you too; don't do that!" For these things, and so many more, she will be forever missed.

Linda was preceded in death by her sister, Karen (Muenchow) Hemingsen, and her parents, Clifford and Lucille (Tripp) Muenchow.

She is survived by her daughter, Janeille Ringeisen (Troy); her grandchildren: Sienna, Sage, and Sorrel; her sisters: Ardell Marks, and Vikki Burke (Gordon); and nieces and nephews: Pamela Elfering (Troy), Anthony Hemingsen (Sunni), Daniel Smith (Dee), Joseph Marks, Colton Burke, and Jaden Burke.

The Nelson-Hillestad Funeral and Cremation Service of Redwood Falls and Morgan are in charge of the arrangements. E-mail condolences may be sent via www.nelson-hillestad.com.
