Lenore Ann Bernardy, a devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and beloved friend, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2026. Born on October 20, 1934, Lenore’s life was a testament to kindness, dedication, and warmth that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Lenore dedicated her lifetime to the care and nurturing of children, working in daycare and contributing her talents at Jonti-Craft. Her career was marked by a passion to support and guide the young, a legacy that is fondly remembered by many. Beyond her work, Lenore found joy in the simple pleasures of life: assembling jigsaw puzzles with quiet focus, sharing laughter and stories while visiting with family, and partaking in spirited games of bingo at the nursing home. These moments revealed her vibrant spirit and her unwavering love for connection.
A resident of Wabasso, Minnesota, Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Redwood Falls, Minnesota throughout her life, Lenore’s heart was a mosaic of the places she called home and the people she loved. She is survived by her children: Cynthia (Bill) Lavin of Granite Falls, MN; Alfred (Cyndi) Bernardy of Marian, IA; Dennis (Cori) Bernardy of Dupont, WA; Mary (Eddy) Johnson of Redwood Falls, MN; Linda (Dave) Weldy of New Ulm, MN; Teena Janshen of Tracy, MN; Patricia Mulder of Wheaton, MN; and Joleen (Rob) Hyde of Redwood Falls, MN. Her legacy extends through fifteen grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren who carry forward her kindness and strength in their hearts.
Lenore's family also includes her brothers Duke (Diane), Butch, Doug (Connie), Chet (Tilly), and Bobby Bergstrom, as well as her sisters Betty Anderson and Lois Theide. A special friend, Lavonne (Lonnie) Mathiowetz, also held a treasured place in Lenore’s life, providing companionship and shared memories.
Her passing marks the loss of a beloved wife as well; her spouse, L.J. "Bean" Bernardy, preceded her in death in 2018. She also mourns the loss of two brothers, three sisters, one son-in-law, and one grandson.
Lenore Ann Bernardy’s life was a beacon of love and community, forever entwined with the lives she nurtured and the friendships she fostered. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered through the countless generations she influenced with her gentle heart and steadfast spirit. May her memory be a comfort to all who loved her, and may her story inspire smiles in times of sorrow.
May she rest in peace.
