Lawrence John Seifert, the son of Martin and Grace (Fischer)Seifert, was born on January 26, 1936 in Sundown Township, Redwood County MN.  Lawrence grew up and lived his entire life on the Seifert farm near Clements until he became a resident of Gil-mor Manor in Morgan in 2023.  He married Lorraine Hauser on April 23, 1963 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye.  He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Morgan and previously a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Clements.  Lawrence was an active member at St. Joseph’s having served on parish council, lector and teaching religious education classes.

Lawrence was a life-long farmer, and he received great meaning from his work.  He was generally reserved and valued contemplation over frivolous speech.  He did, however, enjoy “talking shop” about everything related to farming, machinery, and mechanical equipment, and was known to spend much time thinking up creative DIY solutions to problems he encountered around the farm as well as in the kitchen.  He could often be heard giving commentary to mom as she would prepare meals.  He also developed a unique and memorable vocabulary of idioms and frequently used figurative language to add creativity to everyday situations.  Winters were a favorite time to be sharing his passion for sausage making or anything stuffed into a casing.  Though often restrained in speech, Lawrence had a vivid mind and imagination that was anything but.

He is survived by his son, Michael and wife Jean of Redwood Falls, and daughter, Denise and husband Larry Mahoney of Appleton, MN; two grandchildren, Andrew and Anna Mahoney; sister, Florence and husband Alfred Salfer of Wabasso and many nieces and nephews.  Lawrence was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine, son, Jerome Seifert: one brother, Norbert and sister-in law, Rita Seifert Holmes, brother-in-law, Anthony Hauser, sister and brother-in-law LuAnn and Mark Aschenbenner and nephew, Leon Hauser.

Blessed be his memory.
