Joanna Marie Teed, beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, lost a long battle with multiple illnesses on May 24, 2021 at her home in Morton, Minnesota.
Born on January 26, 1971 in Bakersfield, California, she was the second of seven children born to Mary and Gary Teed. In her childhood, Joanna's family relocated several times. They moved from California to Minnesota, Illinois, and Wisconsin, before finally settling back in California. She graduated from Corona High School in the class of 1989 and went on to study advertising at California State University, Fullerton.
Her beautiful welcoming smile and genuine personality gained her lifelong friends all over the country. Her friends became her extended family and meant the world to her.
Her most beloved role in life, though, was as Auntie Joanna. She adored her nieces and nephews as if they were her own children, and she always played with them, as they matched her youthful spirit. She was dubbed the "Baby Whisperer" because she was often the only one able to quiet a distraught child. During the Covid lockdowns, she arranged weekly online meetings with the kids to play Uno and maintain connection.
She was inspired by music, fashion, and the beauty of nature. She especially appreciated flowers, tropical sunsets, and the beach. She had an amazing sense of style and always enjoyed shopping for "good deals" with friends and family.
Throughout her life Joanna captured the hearts of all she met with her whimsical good nature. She had a delightful imagination and sense of humor that paired well with her kindness and immense generosity. Her sense of faith and intense compassion compelled her to consistently put the needs of others ahead of her own, even as she suffered years of multiple illnesses and intense pain.
She will be forever loved and missed.
She is survived by her father, Gary Teed of Desert Hot Springs, California; her siblings, Jennifer Teed of Redmond, Washington, as well as Charles, Susan (Malone), John, James, and William Teed also of California. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews: Brodie and Savannah Teed, Collin and Sarah Malone, and Ella and Emma Teed. In addition, she is survived by the Colwell family of Morton, Minnesota.
Her mother, Mary (Colwell) Teed, preceded her in death.
