Jeanette Mae, daughter of William and Mary (Frankiewicz) Sturm, was born on July 20, 1938 in Butternut, Wisconsin. Jeanette proudly graduated from Butternut High School as class Valedictorian in 1956 and furthered her education at St. Mary of Nazareth School of Nursing. On February 8, 1964, she married Richard Louis Steenhoven Sr. in Park Falls, Wisconsin, embarking on a journey that would see them create a life rich with memories.

From 1964 to 1969, Jeanette and Richard made their home in Comfrey, Minnesota, before moving to Springfield, where Jeanette worked as a nurse and served as the secretary for the National Catholic Order of Foresters . Their next venture took them to Walker, Minnesota, where they opened a restaurant with her family. In 1996, they settled in Grand Rapids and remained there until moving to Morton in 2014.

Jeanette loved reading, playing cards, watching the Minnesota Vikings, game shows and most of all spending time with her family.

Jeanette was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Redwood Falls, where her faith and community spirit flourished. She also enjoyed her time at the Grand Rapids and Morton Senior Centers, forming bonds with many friends. Throughout her life, Jeanette was recognized for her commitment to giving back; she was an avid blood donor, generously contributing multiple units over the decades, reflecting her caring and compassionate nature.

Jeanette is survived by her children: Rene (Jeff) Wold of Pengilly, MN; Kendra (Robert) Boney of Redwood Falls; and Jennifer (Lonnie) Quackenbush of Morton. She also leaves behind 16 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, who will carry her legacy forward. Her siblings, William Jr. (Rita) Sturm of O’Fallon, IL, and Donald Sturm of Portage, WI, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends, mourn her passing.

Jeanette is preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary Sturm; her husband, Richard Sr.; her son, Richard Jr.; her grandson, Bryan Geiger; her son-in-law, David Ochs; and her brothers, Leonard and Dennis Sturm.

Jeanette’s spirit and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched throughout her life.

Blessed be her memory.
