Jan Larie Lorentz, the daughter of Walter and Beatrice (Krienke) Lowinske, was born July 15, 1951 in Sleepy Eye. She grew up in Hutchinson and New Ulm, receiving her elementary education in Hutchinson and graduating from New Ulm High School in 1969. Jan then graduated from the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis.

Jan married Jim Aufderheide in 1970 and the couple lived in New Ulm, Boise Idaho, and Minneapolis. The marriage ended in divorce in 1975. In 1980, Jan married Mark Lorentz; they lived in St. Peter where Jan was employed as a pharmacy technician at St. Peter State Hospital for many years. The marriage ended in divorce in 1998 and Jan moved to Phoenix, Arizona. She later moved to Redwood Falls where she was employed by Jackpot Junction and REM. Jan was a member of First Lutheran Church in St. Peter. She was a devoted caregiver. Jan liked to take care of all living beings – whether it be her elderly parents, or her friends at REM, or her cats.

She is survived by her son Jeremy Aufderheide of Chicago, Illinois; her parents Walter and Beatrice Lowinske of Redwood Falls; her sister Jolene Schrepfer of Belview; and her brothers Jay (Kay) Lowinske of Fridley, and Jim (Patti) Lowinske of Hutchinson. She was preceded in death by her sister Jacolyn Walter, and her brother Jeffrey Lowinske.

Blessed be her memory.
