Evelyn E. Jensen, age 101, of Morgan, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2024, at the Gil-Mor Manor in Morgan, Minnesota. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at St John’s Lutheran Church in Morgan with burial to follow in the St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Morgan. A visitation will be held Wednesday, March 6, 2024, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., all at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Morgan.
Evelyn Esther Engel was born October 10, 1922 to William and Lydia (Zamzow) Engel on a farm in Sherman Township, Morgan, Minnesota. She attended the Morgan schools. On February 23, 1956, Evelyn married Roger C. Jensen at St John’s Lutheran Church in Morgan, Minnesota. They resided on a farm near the Morgan area for many years. Her husband Roger died on September 3, 2004. Evelyn was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Morgan, Minnesota and was a homemaker who helped on the farm. She had a green thumb and planted and tended a large garden. She loved to sew, to write letters, read the Bible, and make scrapbooks. She was well known for her good memory of names and dates in family history. Her main vocation was a wife and mother. She was patient, kind, sweet natured, and not given to complaining.
Roger and Evelyn had two daughters, Mavis Jackson, of Springfield, Missouri and Sharon Utsey and husband Roy of Hempstead, Texas. There are two granddaughters, Amanda Beasley of Shepherd, Texas and Stacy Beasley of Tecumseh, Kansas; two great grandsons, Logan Christ of Tecumseh, Kansas and Carter Watkins of Shepherd, Texas; two great granddaughters, Kayla Christ and Cali Christ of Tecumseh, Kansas. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Mae Meyer of Springfield, Minnesota and brother-in-law Elson Winter of New Ulm. And by many nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Roger; her two brothers, Elden Engel and Orlin Engel; and her two sisters Alvina Hoffbeck and Irene Winter; sisters-in-law, LuVern Engel, Arlene Aarons, Gloria Meyer, and Lorraine Potter; brothers-in-law, Robert Potter, Raymond Hoffbeck, Werner Aarons, Robert E. Meyer; nephews, Larry Hoffbeck and Allen Meyer; nieces, Ane Marie Ness and Mariann Engel.
