Else K. Jacobsen

February 13, 1929 — December 10, 2018

The heavenly choir has gained a lovely voice with the earthly departure of Christ’s servant Else Kirsten Andersen Jacobsen on December 10, 2018. Let us remember with thanksgiving what God has done through His faithful servant Else, beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend.

Else Kirsten Andersen was given life by her Creator on February 13, 1929, at Evan, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Carl and Hansine (Hansen) Andersen. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Evan, Minnesota. Else graduated from Sleepy Eye High School in 1946 and taught in local schools after teacher training.

Else married Reynold Peter Jacobsen on June 10, 1948, at Evan, MN in a joint ceremony with Arthur and Florence (Andersen) Henriksen. They were blessed with four children: Karen Nimmo, Mt Prospect, IL; Eric (Sonia), Roseville, MN; Dana, Laguna Hills, CA; Barbara Jensen, Eagan, MN. Else was blessed with six grandchildren: Michael (Janet) Nimmo, Robert (Stephanie) Nimmo, Laura (Adam) Clausen, Heather (Andrew) Peterson, Daniel Jacobsen, Dustin Jensen. Her four great grandchildren are Adelae Nimmo, Emmett Jacob Nimmo. Eli David Nimmo, and Aaron Michael Nimmo.

Reynold and Else farmed in Brookville Township, Redwood County, for 55 years, good stewards of the land and resources. Else’s love of flowers was widely known and she shared generously from her prolific gardens. Else was an active member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Evan, MN. Reynold and Else loved to travel and get together with friends. Reynold died June 11, 2015.

Else was a frequent soloist for local events and played piano by ear, taking requests which often included “The Fox Went Out on a Starry Night”, “You are My Sunshine”, and Christmas carols. Family events often included singing around the piano while Else played and sang. Else loved baking and cooking and eagerly welcomed guests with her latest baked goods and beverages.

Else was preceded in death by her husband Reynold, her parents and two sisters, Florence Henriksen and Carol Hansen Amsden. Else gave generously of herself to her family, church, and community. Her faith guided her throughout life. Reynold and Else lived in Countryside in Sleepy Eye for several years before moving to Gil Mor Manor, Morgan, MN.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018 at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Evan, MN, Pastor Becca Krogstad officiating. Burial will be next to Reynold in the Dannebod/Brookville Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00-6:30 pm on Friday Dec. 28, 2018 at the Nelson-Hillestad Funeral Home, 75 Somerville St S, Morgan, MN and at the church one hour before the service. Memorials are requested to St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church (124 Knudsen Street, Evan, MN 56266) in lieu of flowers. Condolences may be sent to the family through son Eric Jacobsen of Roseville, MN.

God welcomed Else home on December 10, 2018, to rest in the arms of Jesus to await the resurrection of the dead. The Lord gives, and the Lord takes away; blessed be the name of the Lord.

Arrangements are with Nelson-Hillestad Funeral and Cremation Service of Morgan. E-mail condolences may be sent via www.nelson-hillestad.com .
