Edward A. Hewett, 67 of Redwood Falls passed away Friday, August 19, 2016 at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester after a brief battle with leukemia. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 23, 2016, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., at Nelson-Hillestad Funeral Home in Redwood Falls. A graveside service, with full military honors, will follow at the Redwood Falls Cemetery.

Edward Hewett, the son of Melvin J. and Marjorie R. (Christenson) Hewett, was born January 21, 1949 in Redwood Falls. He received his early education in Redwood Falls graduating from high school in 1967. Two years after graduation he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served a brief tour in Viet Nam. He was awarded the Purple Heart and was honorably discharged in 1971. After returning to Redwood Falls he worked at Morgan’s Red Owl, Jackpot Junction and Hi-Way Lanes.

Edward is survived by his sisters Pauline (Keith) Couch of Gering, Nebraska, Katherine (Robert) Williams of Riverside, California, Ardis (Keith) Kearney of Clarinda, Iowa, and Joyce Marlow of Redwood Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents; maternal and paternal grandparents; and his brother-in-law Johnny Marlow. He will be missed by all.
