Douglas Paul Hacker was born on January 15, 1954, to Andrew and Marge (Roiger) Hacker, Doug grew up on his family's farm near Morgan, MN, where he developed the strong work ethic that guided him throughout his life. He later farmed in the Morgan area before relocating to Ellendale, where he continued his hardworking ways in the construction industry.
He enjoyed working in his garden, fishing, camping, and spending time outdoors. He took pride in growing his own produce and preserving it through canning and freezing. Doug made a business of sharpening knives and saws-a craft he approached with patience and care. He enjoyed driving his green Road Runner and treasured attending country music concerts with his children. Above all else, Doug found his greatest happiness in his children and grandchildren. He cherished every opportunity to spend time with family, and in 2003, donated a kidney to his daughter-a gift that reflected the care he had for his family.
He is survived by his children, Jason Hacker of Mankato, Jamie Hacker of Redwood Falls, Jackie Stelzer (Shawn) of Brandon, and Sarah Hacker of Redwood Falls; his grandchildren, Brandon Hacker (Rachel), Ryan Hacker, Brynn Hacker, Seth Stelzer, Andrew Scott, Alexis Stelzer and Emilie Scott. He is also survived by his siblings, Mark Hacker (Marilyn) of Marshall, Denise Kalkhoff (Edwin Steffl) of Morgan, Jerry Hacker (Shirley) of Ortonville, Lisa Jacobsen (Curt) of Garrison, and Chris Hacker (Lori) of Franklin; and his former spouses, Deb Beltz and Joanne Hacker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andy and Marge Hacker.
He will be remembered for his quiet, kind presence and by the family and friends who knew him.
