Carole A. Young was born on August 21, 1939, in Morgan, Minnesota, where she was also raised. She married Neil Young in Morgan before the couple made their home in Springfield, Minnesota. She most recently resided in New Ulm, Minnesota.
Carole was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose love for her family was at the center of everything she did. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Neil Young, who passed on July 15, 2005; her son, David Young, who passed on February 22, 2025; her parents, Otto and Lena Loose; and her brothers, Wallace, Darwin, Vernon, and Willis. Also preceded by friends that became family Minnie Gruendemann, and Herman and Bertha Gruendemann.
She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Megan (Young) Moore and her husband, Chris Moore, and their son, Sam, who brought Carole immense joy and whom she loved dearly; Nick Young and his wife, Tea Young; and her daughter-in-law, Lisa Young. Sisters-in-law Marlene Loose and Julie Thomas, and brother-in-law Greg Young, as well as numerous Loose and Young nieces and nephews. Her family was her greatest pride, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Carole worked as a legal secretary in Springfield, where she was known for her dedication, organization, and warm presence. She also devoted many meaningful hours to the Springfield Historical Society, reflecting her deep appreciation for history and her community. In addition, she shared her faith by teaching Sunday school, a role she embraced with care and devotion.
Outside of her work and volunteering, Carole found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She loved traveling with her husband Neil, her son David, and her grandchildren, creating memories that will be treasured forever. She had a deep love for knitting and was rarely without a project in her hands. She lovingly knitted baby hats for the local hospital and created many treasured gifts for family and friends. She also enjoyed other forms of needlework and crafts, including hardanger, along with reading, researching her ancestry, and keeping in touch with her many friends. She was also an active member of the Springfield garden club, where she shared her love of flowers and community.
Those who knew Carole will remember her as someone who loved with her whole heart. She was generous, spontaneous, and strong-willed—a woman whose kindness and resilience left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Like the flowers she so lovingly tended, her memory will continue to bloom in the hearts of all who knew her.
Blessed be her memory.
