Alexander “Alex” Eotvos, 91, of Franklin died Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Golden Living Center in Franklin. A private memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 8, 2012 from the Nelson-Martin Funeral Chapel in Redwood Falls. Alexander Joszeph Eotvos, Jr., the son of Joszeph and Maria Eotvos, was born October 29, 1921 in Budapest Hungary. Alex grew up in the Budapest area and attended school there through the 10th grade. He was a member of the Hungarian Royal Mounted Police for 15 years and became a “freedom fighter” against Hitler during World War II. In 1956, Alex and fellow freedom fighters were given two options: embrace communism or be executed. He and five others chose to leave their families and immigrate to the United States.
