Sandra Bernice Potter Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Sandra “Sandy” Potter, 73, of Morgan died Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at Sleepy Eye Medical Center. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2014 from St. John’s Lutheran Church in Morgan with private burial at a later date. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 3, 2014, from 4 until 8 p.m., at the Nelson-Martin Funeral Home in Morgan and will continue on Saturday, from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m., at the church. Sandra Bernice Potter was born to Mildred Dale Woolwine on March 29, 1940 in West Virginia and was adopted at birth by Floyd and Bernice (Rockwell) Hayer. Sandy grew up in the Grove City and Hutchinson areas. She received her formal education in Grove City and Hutchinson Public schools, graduating from Hutchinson High School in 1957. She later attended Hutchinson Vocational School, graduating in 1971. Sandy lived in Minneapolis and St. Paul where she worked as an accountant and a realtor. She married Dennis Potter in Minneapolis. Following her move to Morgan, Sandy worked at Jackpot Junction for 15 years, retiring in October 2013. She enjoyed working part time at the Morgan Public Library and was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. Sandy is survived by her daughters Tanya Bogan of Minneapolis Tracy Elsing (and Tom McTighe) of Morgan, and Tammi (David) Meliza of Mankato; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and siblings Florence (Myron) Goodell, Rosa (Billy) Walkup, and June Simpson all of Alderson, West Virginia, and Rita (Doug) MacLean of Aurora, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her husband Dennis, her son Terry Curtis, one brother, and two sisters. Blessed be her memory.
