Romain Kenneth Seaman, the son of William B. and Ada (Simning) Seaman, was born May 25, 1928 near Gold Mine Lake in Delhi Township, Redwood County. He was raised in the Delhi area and received his formal education in the local schools. Red was inducted into the United States Army on December 8, 1950. He served during the Korean Conflict as a Field Artillery Cannoneer with “A” Battery of the 61st Field Artillery Battalion. Red was honorably discharged on December 8, 1952 with the rank of Corporal. He returned to the Redwood Falls area where he worked road construction and eventually owned and operated his own construction firm. Red was proud to have rebuilt the local racetrack; he also owned it for a few years. He was a “jack of all trades.”

On September 21, 1963, Red married Barbara Nielsen at the Morton Methodist Church and the couple made their home near Redwood Falls. He loved his family and, in his spare time, enjoyed fishing, going to auctions, going to Jackpot Junction, and visiting with family and friends.

Red is survived by his wife Barb of Redwood Falls; children Lori Dement of Washington state, Jill (Tom) Leen of Jackson, Randy Seaman of Redwood Falls, Ron (Kim) Seaman of Redwood Falls, and Bob Seaman of Redwood Falls. Also surviving are his grandchildren Jonathan Castle, James Castle, Katherine Miller, Chera (Tim) Sevcik, Kyle (Crystal) Dehn, Corey Dehn, Brandon Leen, Nick (special friend Lindsey) Hodgson, Lindsey (special friend Paul) Seaman, Kristopher Hodgson, Dan (Michael) Seaman, Matthew Witte, Xander Seaman, Connor Seaman, and Cameron Seaman; 21 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Virginia Seaman; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Chester, Richard, and Bill; sisters Dorothy and Elaine; and grandson Jacob Witte.

Blessed be his memory.
