Norman M. Thiel, 77, of Redwood Falls died Monday, September 2, 2013 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 6, 2013 from St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls. Burial will follow at Crestlawn Cemetery, rural Redwood Falls. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 5, 2013, from 4 until 8 p.m., at Nelson-Martin Funeral Home in Redwood Falls and will continue on Friday at the church for one hour prior to services.

Norman Martin Thiel, the son of Paul and Alma (Loock) Thiel, was born October 7, 1935 in Redwood Falls. He grew up in Redwood Falls and received his formal education here. Following his graduation from Redwood Falls High School, Norman was inducted in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged and returned to Redwood Falls.

On November 26, 1955, Norman married Arlene Hoffrogge in Revere and they made their home in Redwood Falls. Norman was an electrician for Lee’s Electric in Redwood Falls and then a journeyman foreman at Brandt Electric in Olivia for 30 years. Following his retirement in 1997, he worked part time at A&W Furniture for 13 years. Norman was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church where he served as an usher and a Pioneer leader. He was a 50 year member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). Norman enjoyed many summers fishing at the cabin and hunting with family and friends in the fall.

Norman is survived by his wife Arlene of Redwood Falls; his sons Doug and wife Mundy of Isanti, and Rodney and wife Janet of Argyle, Texas; grandsons D.J., Brandon and Kyle all of Isanti and Dylan of Argyle; granddaughter Ashley of Argyle; and great-grandson Colton of Argyle. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and two sisters.
