Myron "Mac" Dean Machart
February 4, 1932 — October 3, 2012
Myron “Mac” Machart, 80, of Redwood Falls died Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at Sunwood Good Samaritan Care Center in Redwood Falls. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 8, 2012 from Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls. Burial, with military honors, will follow at the Redwood Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, October 7, 2012, from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Nelson-Martin Funeral Home in Redwood Falls and will continue on Monday at the church for one hour prior to services.

Myron Dean Machart was born February 4, 1932 in Lankin, North Dakota. He spent his younger years in Lankin. The family moved to Grafton, North Dakota in 1946 where Mac completed his formal education, graduating from Grafton High School in 1950. He was inducted into the United States Army in 1952 and served during the Korean Conflict. Mac was honorably discharged in 1954 and began working as a meat cutter for the National Tea supermarkets in St. Cloud and Grand Forks, North Dakota.
On December 30, 1955, Mac married Marilyn Langbehn in Grafton. In 1958, the family moved to Redwood Falls where Mac began his employment with Tersteegs. He worked his way up the ranks to store manager, a position he held until his retirement in 1997. Following his retirement, Mac continued to work part-time at Tersteegs for another 10 years. He took great pride in his 49 years at Tersteegs. Mac considered Ed and Jim Tersteeg to be part of his family, as well as all the young people he hired there. In his spare time, he belonged to the Lions Club, Jaycees, the American Legion, and the Redwood Falls Golf Club. Mac enjoyed fishing, hunting, and following the Vikings, Twins and Gophers on television, and all the local teams in person – especially the basketball and football teams. He coached Pony League baseball for several years and his later years took great enjoyment from following his grandchildren’s school activities. Mac enjoyed reading everything from the newspaper to bestselling books; he was always working on a crossword puzzle. He and Marilyn enjoyed camping with their family in Colorado. Mac was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church where he served as an usher and prepared meals for church banquets.
He idolized his family and will be dearly missed by his wife of nearly 57 years, Marilyn; his son Mark (Patti); his daughter Melissa (Pete); and his grandchildren Noelle, Tyler, Katelyn, and Tucker; and his brothers Leroy (Betty) Erickson, and Neil (Joyce) Erickson. Mac was preceded in death by his mother, his daughter Barbara Kay, and his son-in-law Mark Arndt.
