Martha Anna Breitkreutz Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Martha A. Breitkreutz, 86, of Belview died Saturday, January 15, 2011 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 22, 2011 from St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Danube with burial to follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Renville. Visitation will be held Saturday, January 22, 2011, from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m., at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Danube. Martha Anna Breitkreutz, the daughter of Gottlieb and Alma (Witzorak) Schoeck, was born May 10, 1924 in Renville. She grew up in the Renville area and received her education there. Martha graduated from Renville High School in May 1942. On March 15, 1942, Martha married Gerhardt Breitkreutz on Herbert Bratsch’s farm in Renville County. The couple lived in California during World War II, and then moved back to the Delhi area where they raised their five children. After her children were grown, Martha worked at the Redwood Falls Hospital and at Sunwood Nursing Home for over 25 years. She was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Flora Township, Renville County where she taught Sunday school for many years. Martha belonged to the Minnesota Prairie OWLS. She enjoyed baking, canning, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends. Martha is survived by her children Ann (James) Rautenberg of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, Karl (Deanna) Breitkreutz of Redwood Falls, Orville (Susan) Breitkreutz of Watertown, Wisconsin, Owen (Christine) Breitkreutz of Neosho, Wisconsin, and Shirley (Mike) Hoffman of Sauk Rapids; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and her sister Elsie (Don) Kleman of Remer. She was preceded in death by her husband Gerhardt on December 2, 1965; her great-grandson Daniel Breitkreutz; four brothers; and two sisters. Blessed be her memory.
