Marlin Raddatz

April 4, 1929 — February 28, 2016

Marlin Raddatz, 86, of Morgan died Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Gil-Mor Manor in Morgan. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 4, 2016 from St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls. Burial will follow in the Morgan City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 3, 2016, from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Nelson-Hillestad Funeral Home in Morgan and will continue on Friday, from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. at the church.

The family prefers memorials be directed to We Care, Gil-Mor Manor, St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, or the donor’s choice.

Marlin Orval Raddatz, the son of Reinhold and Cecelia (Schmidt) Raddatz, was born April 4, 1929 on the family farm in New Avon Township, Redwood County. He grew up on the family farm and received his formal education in country school near Wabasso.

On August 30, 1950, Marlin married Gladys Zempel in St. John Lutheran Church in Morgan. They lived on, and operated, the Zempel family farm near Morgan. Marlin was also employed by Zieske Lumber. He was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Marlin is survived by his wife Gladys of Morgan; children Joleen Wendinger of New Ulm, Randy (Shelly) Raddatz of Excelsior, Ron (Janet) Raddatz of Morgan, and Jerry (Jan) Raddatz of Redwood Falls; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and his brothers Loren (Martha) Raddatz of Morgan, and Harlan (LaDonna) Raddatz of Redwood Falls; and sister-in-law Darlene Raddatz of Rosemount. He was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law Paul Wendinger, sister Darlene Blume, and brother Lyle Raddatz, brother-in-law Delmer “Jim” Blume, and a sister in infancy.
