Marlene Sand, 80, of Redwood Falls died Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at Seasons hospice in Redwood Falls. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 29, 2013 from First Presbyterian Church in Redwood Falls with burial to follow in the Redwood Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 28, 2013, from 4 until 7 p.m., at Nelson-Martin Funeral Home in Redwood Falls and will continue on Friday, from noon until 1 p.m., at the church.
The family requests memorials be directed to ARC Minnesota, Southwest.

Marlene June Sand, the daughter of John and Josephine (Trunick) Oman, was born June 30, 1932 in Montevideo. She grew up in the New York Mills area and graduated from Greenway High School in Coleraine, Minnesota. Marlene was married to Edgar “Bud” Boehne from 1950 until 1966; they farmed in the Deer Creek area.
Marlene lived in Little Falls and St. Louis Park until she married Eugene Sand on February 20, 1971. Following their marriage, Marlene and Gene moved to Redwood Falls.
Marlene was employed as a Payroll and Benefits Manager for Schult Homes of Redwood Falls from 1974 until she retired in 1998. She was an advocate for ARC of Redwood Falls and a volunteer in the community. Marlene was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed crafts, gardening, painting, sewing, woodworking and quilting.
Marlene is survived by her husband, Eugene Sand, of Redwood Falls; her children Vickie (Jon) Thompson of Pelican Rapids, Linda (Frederick) Eichmiller of Mosinee, Wisconsin, and Alan (Mona) Boehne of Detroit Lakes. Also surviving are her stepchildren Debbie (Tom) Toohey of Coon Rapids, Jill (Joe) Berglove of Ham Lake, Beth (Tim) Barten of Andover, Faye Richardson of Andover, and Tom (Karla) Sand of Andover; 23 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four brothers; and three sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and one sister.
