Marlene A. Beckwith

December 6, 1933 — July 9, 2019

Marlene Beckwith, age 85, of Redwood Falls, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at Garnette Gardens in Redwood Falls. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church in Redwood Falls with burial to follow in the Redwood Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday, July 13, 2019, from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m.

Marlene Audrey Beckwith, the daughter of Herbert O. Bruner and Inez M. (McGraw) Bruner, was born December 6, 1933, in Spooner, Wisconsin. She grew up in Spooner and after graduating from Spooner High School, she moved to Superior, Wisconsin to attend business college. After college she worked at Holden’s Insurance in Superior. She moved to Cloquet, Minnesota in the mid 1970’s. She retired in Mesa, Arizona before settling in Redwood Falls in 2001.

Marlene married Lloyd (Sing) Westerback in 1955 and raised three girls. After Lloyd’s death, she married Dale Beckwith. Together they owned Stock Tire Company in Cloquet, Minnesota and Ye Old Popcorn Wagon.

Marlene was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Redwood Falls. She loved playing cards, visiting with friends and traveling, and spending time with all of her grandchildren.

Marlene is survived by her daughters, Tara (Ray) Hyde of Mason, Wisconsin, Karen (Scott) Wells of Somerset, Wisconsin, Beth (Lee) Anderson of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Kathy Beckwith of Colorado Springs, Colorado. She is also survived by her sister Edna (Rich) Walsh of Clive, Iowa, 14 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and Marilyn Boyum, who was like a second sister to Marlene.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Lloyd Westerback and second husband, Dale; sons Dennis Beckwith and Kerry Beckwith (Cookie Crandall), daughter Dayle-Ann Wood and brother and sister-in-law Derald (Jum) & Bonietta Bruner.

Memorial contributions to the Redwood Falls Animal Shelter or American Cancer Society is appreciated by the family.
