Marilyn S. Rothmeier

Marilyn S. Rothmeier, age 82, of Redwood Falls died on Friday, November 9, 2018 at Garnette Gardens in Redwood Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 from St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Redwood Falls with burial to follow at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Clements. Visitation will be from 9 - 11 a.m. Wednesday, all at the church.

Marilyn (Trost) Rothmeier, the daughter of Albert and Minnie (Hammerschmidt) Trost, was born on December 15, 1935 in Vail Township. She attended St. Anne’s Catholic School.

On October 21, 1953, Marilyn married Donald Rothmeier at the St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso and raised their family together on a farm north of Clements. She worked many years side by side with her husband on the farm. Marilyn worked and helped students in the computer lab at Morgan/Cedar Mountain Schools, in the early days of the personal computers. She worked there until her retirement. Donald passed away May 12, of 2004. A couple years later Marilyn sold the farm site and moved to Redwood Falls.

Marilyn was a member of St. Catherine’s Parish, where she had served as Eucharistic Minister, She was a member of Redwood Senior Center, enjoyed volunteering at the Church, Garnette Gardens, Meals on Wheels, Senior Dining, and the Food Shelf. Marilyn loved to bake, garden, quilt, and travel. She cherished spending time with her family and friends, often playing cards or other board games.

Marilyn is survived by her children, Deb (Ken) Mathiowetz of Morgan, MN, Darryl (Julie) Rothmeier of Brookings, SD and Maggie (Rod) Kopischke of Overland Park, KS; nine grandchildren; and six great grandchildren; siblings, Cletus (Fern) Trost of Wabasso, MN, Bernus Trebesch of Springfield, MN; Ralph Trost of Wasbasso, MN; Diane (Everett) Knott of McMinnville, OR and sister-in-law, Delores Rothmeier of Olivia, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald; parents; and a great grand-daughter, Piper.
