Lucina Rose Duscher, the daughter of John and Lena (Fuchs) Tauer, was born August 30, 1924 in Morgan. When Lucina was just 10 months old, her father was killed by lightning; she and her mother later moved into Morgan where Lucina grew up. She received her formal education in Morgan schools and graduated from Morgan High School. Lucina attended nurses training at St. Mary’s Hospital in Minneapolis and earned her degree as a registered nurse there.

On September 18, 1945, Lucina married Leroy A. Duscher in Morgan and they made their home in Redwood Falls. Lucina was a homemaker and a devoted mother to her seven children. She was a member of the neighborhood card club for over 50 years and belonged to the Redwood Falls Hospital Auxiliary. Lucina was a dedicated member of Friends of the Library and enjoyed working with their semi-annual book sales. She loved to read and was a constant patron of the library. Lucina was a very active member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church. She belonged to, and was secretary of, the local branch of National Order of Foresters for 60 years.

Lucina loved her home – especially her family room. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. Lucina was very proud of her children and had a very close relationship with all of her grandchildren. She had a great love for the Minnesota Twins and enjoyed listening to them on the radio – and attending the occasional game. She traveled with Leroy, taking bus trips as far away as New Hampshire. Lucina enjoyed baking cookies and giving them as a “thank-you.” She was a strong, independent, sociable person. Lucina loved to walk around town, doing her errands and visiting, and was very proud to be able to do so.

She is survived by her children John (Jan) Duscher of Windom, Susan (Mervin) Floodman of Faribault, Joel (Lori) Duscher of Norton, Kansas, Jean (Owen) Norcutt of Woodbury, Gregory (Laurylee) Duscher of Eagan, and Karen (Jon) McCarthy of Blaine; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many, many friends. Lucina was preceded in death by her husband Leroy in 2000, son Roger (Father Romuald) Duscher; and her sister.

A heartfelt thank you to special friends Beth Thorson, Rosie Brau, Jeanne Prescott, and Betty Schmidt.

Blessed be her memory.
