Leona E. Arnett, 94, of Redwood Falls died Monday, September 15, 2014 at Sunwood Care Center in Redwood Falls. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2014 from First Presbyterian Church in Redwood Falls with burial to follow in Crestlawn Cemetery, rural Redwood Falls. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2014, from 5 until 7 p.m., at Nelson-Martin Funeral Home in Redwood Falls and will continue on Thursday at the church for one hour prior to services.

Leona E. Arnett, the daughter of Harry Clifford “H.C.” and Daisy (Peters) Wood, was born April 20, 1920 in Redwood Falls. She grew up in Redwood Falls and received her formal education here.

On September 25, 1941, Leona married Fred “Ted” Jones at the Presbyterian Church in Redwood Falls and, together, they farmed in Redwood County. Ted passed away in June 1967. On September 15, 1973, Leona married Thomas “Tom” Arnett and they made their home in Redwood Falls where Tom owned and operated a school bus line. Leona was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she was active in ladies’ circle and on the funeral committee. She was ordained as an Elder and a Deacon and was a member of the Piecemakers quilters. Leona was a member of the Eastern Star, the Wood Dale Nursing Home Auxiliary, the Birthday Club and Extension Club. She enjoyed exhibiting her flowers at the Redwood County Fair and had served as superintendent of the flower division for several years. Leona loved her family and spending time with them. She taught them how to bake, sew, and make dill pickles.

She is survived by her daughter Beverly (Jim) Hansen of Winona; step-daughter Bette Jo Arnett (Duane Tow); grandchildren John Hansen, Kirstin (Dave) Schultz, Chad (Jolleen) Neuenburg, Kimberly Neuenburg (Matthew Atkinson), Nathan Tow-Arnett, Nick (Jessica) Tow-Arnett, and Jeff Tow-Arnett; and great-grandchildren Michael Dunbar, Makala, Chris, and Jacob Hansen, Jeff and Justine Schultz, and Madison, Morgan, Logan, and Brandon Neuenburg. Leona was preceded in by her parents H.C. and Daisy Wood, her first husband Ted Jones, her second husband Tom Arnett, son Bob, daughter Betty, brother Bob, sister Bernice, and grandson Michael Hansen.
