Kathleen "Katie" Weltsch

Kathleen “Katie” (Jones) Weltsch, age 81, of Redwood Falls, MN, died on April 4, 2012 at Seasons Hospice House, Redwood Falls, MN. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 7, 2012, at First Presbyterian Church, Redwood Falls, MN. Burial will be in Woodland Hills Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Mankato. Visitation will be held at Nelson-Martin Funeral Service in Redwood Falls on Friday, April 6 from 7 until 9 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday at the church for one hour prior to the service. Kathleen was born May 1, 1930 in Mankato, MN to Roy and Evelyn (Swartout) Jones. After graduating from Mankato High School, she married Clinton Weltsch. Together they raised three children. As a wife, Kathleen was supportive and hard working. She and Clint worked well together as they built Weltsch Equipment, Inc. from a fledgling startup business to a successful farm equipment dealership. Kathleen was a devoted wife and a loving caregiver to Clint with his health issues. Kathleen was a dedicated volunteer in her church and community. Her lifetime of care-giving extended beyond her immediate family to meet the needs of many friends and neighbors in their times of need. She endeared herself to many people with her loyal friendship, gift of gab, and love of laughter. Kathleen loved to entertain, especially at Christmas time. Music was a constant thread throughout her life. She was a devoted Presbyterian, an avid Minnesota Viking fan, and a long-time bridge player. In retirement, Kathleen and Clint wintered with friends on the white sandy beaches of Destin, Florida for many years. As a mother, she was unselfish and put her family first. She poured everything she had into her family. Her consistent love and support was something one could always count on. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions for the benefit of Seasons hospice. Kathleen was a kind and generous person and her memory will be cherished by many. Kathleen is survived by her three children: son Tom (Donna) Weltsch of Minneapolis; daughter Mary (David) Daniel of Grand Rapids, MI; son Richard (Joyce) of Redwood Falls; grandchildren and great-grandchildren Chris (Meghan) Daniel, Sofia and Nico Daniel all of Denver, CO and Lindsey (Jaffer) Odeh of Cleveland, OH, Ryan Weltsch of Minneapolis; Anna Weltsch, Aaron, Addison and Evan Thomes all of Sartell, MN; and sister Delores Jacobson of Bricelyn, MN. Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She will be remembered as a loving mother, an adored grandmother, and a devoted friend.
