Jerome L. Prescott, 75, of Morton, died Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Redwood Area Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 from St. Cornelia’s Episcopal Church, Lower Sioux Community. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from noon until 2 p.m. at the church hall. A funeral service will also be held in Shakopee at 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 13, 2014 from McNearney Funeral Home. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home in Shakopee on Thursday, from noon until 2 p.m.

Jerome L. Prescott, the son of Albert and Evelyn (Goodthunder) Prescott, was born November 21, 1938 in the Pipestone Indian Hospital, Pipestone, Minnesota. He grew up on the Lower Sioux Community and received his elementary education at the Bishop Whipple Mission. Jerome attended Morton High School and then enlisted in the United States Army where he was stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

On March 3, 1962, Jerome married Carrol Case at St. Cornelia’s Episcopal Church and they made their home in the Minneapolis area. Jerome was employed as a heavy equipment operator for Minnesota Tree Construction, Orin Thompson Construction, and DLNR Construction. Following his retirement in 1997, he and Carrol moved to Morton. Jerome was a member of St. Cornelia’s Episcopal Church and was Past Commander of American Legion Post 2.

He is survived by his wife Carrol of Morton; daughter Terri (David) Schmitt of Shakopee; grandchildren Jesse, Holly, Dylan, and Taylor; and siblings Gary (Diane) Prescott of Redwood Falls, Debbie (John) Robertson of the Lower Sioux Community, Greg (Jolene) Prescott of Morton, Don Prescott of the Lower Sioux Community, and Denny (Chel) Prescott of Redwood Falls. Jerome was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Roger, Leslie, and Michael.
