Frederick Ovre Jensen

Frederick O. Jensen, 87, died Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Gil-Mor Manor in Morgan. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Franklin with burial to follow in the Morton City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, July 15, 2013 from 4-7 p.m. at the Nelson-Martin Funeral Home in Redwood Falls and will continue Tuesday 1 hour prior to service at the church.

Frederick Ovre Jensen, the son of Oscar and Charlotte (Ovre) Jensen, was born June 9, 1926. He was raised on a farm near Franklin where he graduated from high school in 1945.

On July 15, 1961, Frederick married Audrey Smith. After Audrey passed away, he married Janice (Bartz) Pederson on March 24, 1979 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Franklin. Frederick and his family lived near Franklin his entire life where he farmed for over 50 years until he retired in the early 1990’s.

Frederick was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Franklin where he ushered and was on the church council. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and belonged to a bowling league in Fairfax.

He is survived by his wife Janice Jensen of Franklin; children Doug (Pam Schweiss) Jensen of Franklin and John (Denise) Jensen of Salina, Kansas; grandchildren Jackie, Sharon, John Jr., Michaela, and Laura Jensen; great-granddaughter Lillian; step-children Garnett (Roz) Pederson of Park Rapids, Brian (Wendy) Pederson of Franklin, Russell (Laurie Smith) Pederson of Benedict, and Rhonda (Todd) Josephson of Hackensack; 15 step-grandchildren; and 2 step-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister Beryl (John) Bredeson of Duluth and 4 nieces.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Audrey Jensen, his parents, and grandson Curtis Jensen.

The family prefers memorials to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Franklin.
