Elizabeth “Liz” Caneff, 70, of Morgan died Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at her home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 13, 2014 from St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Morgan with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 9:30 until 11 a.m.

Elizabeth Dell Caneff, the daughter of Edward Raymond and Helen Evelyn (Butterfield) Murphy, was born October 5, 1944 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She grew up in Cedar Rapids and received her formal education there.

On September 9, 1963, Liz married Lawrence Caneff in Rochester and they made their home in Waterloo, Iowa. In 1966, they moved to Hastings and resided there until moving to Morgan in 2004. Liz worked as an aide at Bethesda Hospital in 1960s and 1970s. She was later employed as a home health aide for 25 years. She retired in 2004.

Liz is survived by her husband Lawrence “Larry” of Morgan; children Mirinda Caneff of Randolph, Teresa (Scott) Vogl of Morgan, Tina (Ken) Spaeth of Morgan, Denise (Mark) Winter of Hastings, and Jennifer (Bill) Kaase of Hastings. Also surviving are grandchildren John (Shannon) Caneff, Melissa (Isaac) Ekstrom, Cassandra Larson, Desiree Otto, Jacob Otto, Rose Marie Vogl, Ashley (Timothy) Atkins, Brianna Caneff, Brook Winter, Thomas Winter, Nicholas Kaase, and Nathan Kaase; 16 great-grandchildren; and her sister LaDonna (Lyle) Marter of Vinton, Iowa. She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
