Eleanor was born in Morgan Township, Redwood County, Minnesota to Phillip and Theresa Schmidt. She enjoyed growing up in a family of 10 children. She married Aelred Woelfel in 1943 and raised four sons and three daughters while being a long-time resident of Redwood Falls. Eleanor was also the proud grandmother of 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Eleanor provided a warm, caring, and loving home for her family and had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook and for many years shared those talents working at Sunwood Good Samaritan Care Center as their head dietician. Her faith in God and her close family ties stayed with her throughout her entire life as she was very active in many church activities including membership in the St. Theresa Mission Club, Catholic Council of Catholic Women, visiting the sick, and attending daily Mass. Eleanor also enjoyed playing cards, puzzles, gardening, sewing, and reading.

She is survived by children Harlan (Betty) Woelfel, Ken Woelfel and special friend Sheryl, Steve (Sue) Woelfel, and Lynn Van Ort; daughter-in-law Arlene Woelfel; son-in-law Jim Manning; sister Agnes Monahan; and brothers Russell and William Schmidt; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; children Gale Woelfel, JoAnn Manning, and Joyce Woelfel; and six brothers.
Blessed be her memory.
