Carolyn Lee Lussenhop

October 18, 1937 — March 30, 2022

Carolyn Lee Lussenhop peacefully passed on March 30, 2022 at her home of Chestnut Grove Assisted Living in Henrico, VA. A private family gathering will be held in Redwood Falls, MN with burial in Redwood Falls City Cemetery.

Carolyn was born October 18, 1937 to her parents Carl and Pearl Lussenhop in Redwood Falls, MN. She graduated from high school in Redwood Falls and earned a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Minnesota. Her career in food service began with the Marriott Corporation in Washington DC. She then relocated to Alexandria, VA working for Goodwin House for over 30 years. Carolyn earned her State of Virginia Nursing Home Administrator license and served her community as President of the Altrusa Club. She was a member of the DTE Advisory Committee which advises the Alexandria City Public School Board and was a member of the Northern Virginia Community College Advisory committee and many other community associations.
Carolyn enjoyed shopping, traveling, and helping others. Her family and friends will forever be blessed by the love she poured onto them and are grateful for all those memories.
The Meharg and Lussenhop families would like to express their sincere appreciation to her dedicated caregivers at Chestnut Grove and the AT Home Hospice staff members for all the loving care during her time of need.
Carolyn is survived by her life long partners of 21 years, James (Jim) Meharg Jr. of Henrico, VA; brother, Charles (Mary Jane) Lussenhop of Redwood Falls, MN; sister, Jeanne (Jim) Vevang of Renton, WA; nephews, nieces and other family members. Carolyn is also survived by her honorary children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren shared by Jim Meharg.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial gifts be made to The James K. Meharg Jr. and Carolyn L. Lussenhop Endowed Scholarship of Randolph-Macon College. Gifts can be mailed to Randolph-Macon College, P.O. Box 5005, Ashland, VA 23005-5505 in her honor.
