Betty Schefus, 71, of Redwood Falls died Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Season’s hospice in Redwood Falls. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm. on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 from Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls with burial to follow in Redwood Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, September 29, 2014, from 5 until 7 p.m., at Nelson-Martin Funeral Home in Redwood Falls and will continue on Tuesday at the church for one hour prior to services.

Betty Jean Schefus, the daughter of Leroy A. and Wilma A. (Pratt) Bratsch, was born June 6, 1943 in Redwood Falls. She grew up in Redwood Falls and graduated from Redwood Falls High School in 1961.
On September 30, 1961, Betty married Lyle Schefus and they made their home and raised their family in Redwood Falls. Betty was employed by Tersteegs and later did the bookkeeping for an over-the-road trucking business. Betty was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls. She loved spending time with her family and friends – especially her grandchildren and her dog, Chance. Betty enjoyed watching old movies and westerns.
She is survived by her children Jon (Stacey) Schefus of Columbus, Nebraska, Sheri (Randy) Kleinsasser of Brookings, South Dakota, and Randy (Kelly) Schefus of Redwood Falls; grandchildren Brock Schefus, Rhyan Schefus, Kiersten Schefus, Camden Schefus, Braeden Schefus, Kyleigh (Kleinsasser) (and John) Cramer, Brittany Kleinsasser, Jamison Kleinsasser (fiancé Casandra), Danielle Schefus (fiancé Ben), and Stephanie Schefus; and great-grandchildren Emerson Cramer and Callista Cramer. Also surviving are her sister Margaret “Muggy” (Stan) Dworshak of Redwood Falls; brothers Bob (Mary Gayle) Bratsch and Dennis Bratsch all of Redwood Falls; and many nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Lyle in July 2010; her parents Leroy and Wilma; sister-in-law Julie Friedrick; and an infant brother Donald Bratsch.
