Ann Loretta Salewske

September 1, 1920 — August 8, 2012

Ann Salewske, 91, of Redwood Falls and formerly of rural Clements, died Wednesday,
August 8, 2012 at Garnette Gardens in Redwood Falls. Funeral services will be held at
10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2012 from Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Redwood
Falls with burial to follow in Christ Lutheran Cemetery, Wanda. Visitation will be held at
Gloria Dei Lutheran Church on Friday, August 10, 2012, from 5 until 7 p.m. and will
continue at the church on Saturday from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m.

Ann Loretta Salewske, the daughter of Christian and Rose (Rekow) Petersen, was born
September 1, 1920 in Willow Lake Township, Redwood County. She was raised on the
family farm in Willow Lake Township and received her elementary education in Wanda
Public School. Ann attended high school in Lamberton and graduated with the Class of
1938.
In April 1940, Ann married John Salewske in Arnold’s Park, Iowa. The couple farmed, and
raised their family, in the Wanda and Clements areas. Following John’s death in 1969, Ann
moved into Redwood Falls. She was employed by Control Data in Redwood Falls for 16
years; Ann then served as Bailiff for Fifth District Court for over 20 years.
She was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church where she served on the Altar Guild and
funeral committee. Ann made quilts for missions with her fellow quilters at Gloria Dei and
taught Sunday school at Christ Lutheran in Wanda. She was an active member of the
American Legion Auxiliary and served as its chaplain. Ann also belonged to bowling league
and card club.
She is survived by her children John (Charlotte) Salewske of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Janet
(Robert) Swoboda of Redwood Falls, and Deb (Steve) Schramm of Redwood Falls;
grandchildren Dawnell (Don) Muff, Lori (Justin) Perdue, Tyson (Elaine) Salewske, Jamin
(Amber) Ose, Jessica (Chad) Ness, Gabriele Swoboda, Amy Schramm, Bill Schramm, Ben
(Sara) Schramm, and Rebecca Schramm; and 11 great-grandchildren. Ann was preceded in
death by her husband John, one son, one daughter, one brother, and three sisters.
