Alan "Al" Berg

Alan “Al” Berg, 72 of Redwood Falls died Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Wood Dale Nursing Home. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 from St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls with inurnment to follow in the Belview City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m., at the church.

Alan Elmer Berg, the son of Elmer and Gretchen (Fuglem) Berg, was born May 26, 1945 in Echo. He grew upon a farm near Belview and received his formal education in Belview Public School. Al worked as a carpenter for Orvin Sander and then was a cabinetmaker at Welter’s Woodworks, and later for Joel Grunke.

On December 6, 1980, Al married Diane Pequin and they make their home in Redwood Falls.

He was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church where he served as an usher. Al loved to pitch horseshoes. He was involved in horseshoe league for 25 years and won dozens of trophies.

Al is survived by his wife Diane of Redwood Falls; children Paula Rae, Jerry, and Danielle; several grandchildren; his brothers Orin (Marilyn) Berg of St. Paul, Terry (Lois) Berg of Farmington, and Roger (Norma) Berg of Redwood Falls; sister Kay (Ron) Clancy of Willmar; and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are his step-son Harlan Duggan; step-daughter Brenda Boyum; step-grandchildren Tasha Duggan, Cassie (Patrick) Johnson, and Jonny Boyum; and step-great-grandchildren Elijah and Zola Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew.
